IUPA S. R. L. is the first and the only enterprise who is exporting ornamental fishes from Bolivia on a legal way. Various enterprises tried to do it. There were no legal basis in the past and our way to provide this was a challenge, too. But we did it!!!

We are pleased to bring you closer to our project with this homepage.

The work is performed under the strict control of a competent French biologist. He founded and developped the enterprise with a lot of enthusiasm and affection for nature.

The word “IUPA” comes from the language Guaraní which is spoken by lowland Indians. It means pool which is rich in fish. This name stands for intensive cooperation with the indigenous population.

Our fish basins:

Each basin contains 130’000 liters of water. In each section  one class of ornamental fish is kept. The waterplants help to keep the natural balance of algae and offer a subnatural situation. The pH is approx. 6.9.

Indigenous fishermen are visiting IUPA. Here the species are specified, sorted and counted. Our project builds work for a lot of families in the region and a fair salary.

Sustainability, combat against poverty and protect nature are our goals. This is only possible if nature becomes a valuable asset for the indians. Often the population is not aware of nature and its value because its dangers.

Not only do we offer the people the opportunity to get a living with the trapping of ornamental fishes, but we also are train the fishermen’s families about the importance of the forest, protection of the water and how to treat ornamental fishes. Each family receives a tree to plant in his garden to place a signal.

IUPA S. R. L. helps the lowland Indians of Bolivia to generate income in an environmentally friendly way with real opportunities and sustainability, without having to leave their jungle homes.
